Here an interaction with the players, organizers and commentators is possible and even wanted. Another highlight of the event is our arena system. This fully-automatic system measures the service speeds of the players which are presented in real-time on Twitch. So, in this way there is another additional and interesting service delivered to the spectators at home. And at the same time the Sportstadt Düsseldorf, premium partner of the Beach League, gets an attractive platform by presenting the measured speeds. Alex Walkenhorst, initiator and also player at the event, to the collaboration with Speedmaster: “We are really happy about the cooperation with Speedmaster. Since there are no spectators allowed at the venue the interactivity of the event is very important for us. By using the speed measuring system of Speedmaster it´s much easier to transport the athletics of beach volleyball to the living rooms of our spectators.”
The reason why the Beach League was founded is the current Covid-19-pandemic and the associated cancellation of diverse tournaments and series. Even the Olympics had to be postponed. The Beach League was initiated by the German professional beach volleyball player Alex Walkenhorst and realized with further partners for the first time in this year. So the vacuum in the calendars of the players, caused by all the cancellations, could be filled with this event. All matches are played on the ground of the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf without spectators and by respecting a detailed hygiene concept. Changing from week to week the female and male teams are playing against each other in a league-mode. Finally there is a final-four tournament for men and women to identify the winners of both categories.
